The Schild name has a long history in the Barossa, dating back to 1952 when Ben Schild purchased the Three Springs Farm property in Rowland Flat and settled with his family. Today, second and third generation vigneron’s work side by side to solidify Schild Estate’s reputation, built on its commitment to translating the unique tapestry of its vineyards into wines that speak of honesty and drinkability.
2011 ALMA SCHILD RESERVE CHARDONNAY
This wine is dedicated to Alma Schild, who raised a family of eight children in primitive conditions while supporting her husband Ben establish the Schild family vineyards and is a testament to her understanding and perseverance and sheer hard work.
Sourced from the family’s finest fruit parcel of Chardonnay off the Moorooroo Vineyard near Rowland Flat, the fruit for this wine is harvested to optimum ripeness in the cool night air. Following picking, it was de-stemmed and then chilled before fermentation in stainless steel tanks. The wine was then transferred to barrel to complete fermentation and maturation.
