The Schild name has a long history in the Barossa, dating back to 1952 when Ben Schild purchased the Three Springs Farm property in Rowland Flat and settled with his family. Today, second and third generation vigneron’s work side by side to solidify Schild Estate’s reputation, built on its commitment to translating the unique tapestry of its vineyards into wines that speak of honesty and drinkability.
2009 BAROSSA MERLOT
The Schild Estate 2009 Barossa Merlot displays an abundance of rich fruit characters, a supple and textured palate and a hint of some classic savoury characters so often associated with Merlot. These are ably supported by soft balanced tannins and a well dened acid backbone. A wine of textures as much as taste – elegant and capable of complimenting many different food styles with rewarding pleasure.
COLOUR:
Dark cherry red
BOUQUET:
Rich aromas of black plums, cherries, herbs and cinnamon spice
PALATE:
The nose follows through to the palate with even greater complexity and weight. Fine grained tannins balance with the youthful acidity.
