The Schild name has a long history in the Barossa, dating back to 1952 when Ben Schild purchased the Three Springs Farm property in Rowland Flat and settled with his family. Today, second and third generation vigneron’s work side by side to solidify Schild Estate’s reputation, built on its commitment to translating the unique tapestry of its vineyards into wines that speak of honesty and drinkability.
2006 MOROOROO LIMITED RELEASE SHIRAZ
Planted just eleven years after the foundation of South Australia in 1847, these ancient vines are truly remarkable. Remarkable in age, remarkable in condition and in producing a remarkable wine. The growing season had well timed rains with a long, slow ripening period. These ancient vines gave fruit that was harvested at optimum flavour ripeness, crushed and open fermented until dry. Matured for 24 months in new and old French oak, the wine was then bottled with minimal filtration and further matured in our cellar for two years. Stylishly balanced from ancient 1847 Barossa vines, the intensity of character and flavour is displayed subtly in comparison the other blockbuster styles. The sheer experience, the elegance of such a wine can only come from a commitment to quality. An understanding of a wine of this calibre can only come from the opportunity to partake. For optimum drinking of this wine please decant at least four hours before serving.
