2018 Schild Estate Barossa Valley Rose
- Barossa Valley
- Bottle size
- 750 mL
A touch of upfront textural roundness derived from old vine grenache fruit is marked by distinct flavours of red fruits and in particular hints of “strawberries and cream”. An integrated acid line provides some real focus and length ensuring a feeling of purity, balance and “morerishness” that lingers pleasantly on the palate after drinking.
- Winemaking Notes
Made by bleeding off a portion of our grenache juice after 6-12 hours of skin contact. The resulting juice is then fermented cool much like our white wines to retain aromatics and freshness.
- Growing Conditions
Reasonable spring and winter rain saw adequate soil moisture during the growing season with healthy canopies heading into the growing season. January and February were dry, slowing the pace of ripening down and keeping yields lower than initially predicted. Regardless the vintage provided almost perfect grenache growing conditions and the wines from this variety have benefitted.
