2016 PRÄMIE Shiraz

Barossa Valley
Bottle size
750 mL

Focused, sophisticated and demure on the nose, this wine is definitely a “grown up” as opposed to some of the louder young upstarts in the portfolio. Vibrant creamy aromas of both dark and red berry fruit abound. These are supported in behind by subtler secondary notes of boot polish, dried tobacco leaf and dusty fresh spice notes. On the palate there is a presence, but also a lightness of foot which ensures the wine keeps its vitality and perkiness. Some structural tannin framing ensures the wine moves through the palate with a clear focus and destination in mind before rolling out the back where it flattens out and
provides just a hint of generosity at the end.

Growing Conditions

A mild, December and January with cool nights saw ideal conditions prevail towards the end of the 2016 growing season. The result was a measured pace
of ripening which ensured the balanced development of sugar and flavours in the fruit along with the retention of natural grape acid before some later season warmth allowed some real fruit presence to develop.
